Rourkela to get two more trains

BHUBANESWAR: Two more trains will be extended to Rourkela. Proposals for extension of Jammu Tawi Express and Gorakhpur-Hatia Maurya Express to Rourkela have been accepted by the Railway Ministry. A high-level meeting, chaired by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik here today, was informed of the new decision.

A proposal for re-routing the Puri-New Delhi Utkal Express through Rourkela is under consideration. Besides, a new proposal for re-routing of Samaleswari Express will be submitted soon before the Railway Ministry.

Railway officials present at the meeting informed that a plan to operate Inter City Express on Sunday was being examined by the Ministry, while the new train to Keonjhar will be extended to Banspani soon. Besides, work for modernisation of Rourkela Railway Station is currently underway. The meeting also discussed frequency of other Express trains in the State and the need to connect new places.
